With increasing pressure to improve the cost and schedule performance of projects, many organizations now recognize the need to incorporate rigorous cost management and earned-value capabilities into their project management systems.

More recent research studies have shown that the application of Earned Value Management (EVM) in projects is positive predictors of project success. The popularity of EVM has grown in recent years beyond government contracts, a sector in which its importance continues to rise.

Although Earned Value Management is such a compelling project performance monitoring and forecasting technique and has been around for over a century, it doesn’t create miracles in projects if you don’t know how to implement it in your projects properly.

Project team members may be told to start using earned value management in their projects, with the management expectation that project results will soon improve. However, shortly after beginning to apply EVM in projects, the reality kicks in. No real improvement is obtained, project management costs are up, and the project team members are complaining about all of the “extra work” created as a result of EVM.

The reality is that there are some fundamental principles you need to have in place to make Earned Value Management work for you.

In this master class, we will unlock the 6 essential building blocks to effective Earned Value Management implementation.
